The Metatrons are a band, formed in 2009 in Hitchin, Herts. We recorded the album "Between Planets" over the summer, autumn and winter of 2010. It was released on 6th May 2011 with a series of gigs to promote it, see the gigs page for more.
Over the summer of 2011 we have been pleased to play at the annual ROTW Festival in Hitchin with The Subways and Selector and the Ryhthm Festival in Bedford, sharing the bill with the likes of The Buzzcocks, Imelda May and Nick Lowe.
2012 sees us play with the likes of Shrag and many more to come!

“Delectable skewed fuzz-pop” from Hitchin / St Albans, Hertfordshire, UK
Formed in 2009 through a love of 80’s and 90’s noise-pop, The Metatrons recorded their debut album “Between Planets” (The name taken from the cult 1950’s sci-fi novel by Robert Heinlein) between August 2010 and January 2011.
The album was recorded and produced by Andy Davies, a long time friend who had worked with many bands (S*M*A*S*H, The Wildhearts, Soho Roses and more) and felt right for this merging of strong melodies with agit-pop instrumentation.
After a successful album launch the band have received a substantial amount of radio play, including Punky Radio, BBC Three Counties and Radio 6, ILHRadio, Dandelion Radio and more.
The Metatrons played a number of very successful showcase gigs and festivals throughout 2011, sharing bills with such bands as The Subways, Buzzcocks, Nick Lowe, Imelda May and many more. 2012 is shaping up to be busier still, with a number of shows booked way into the year.
There are several published interviews with the band, in P+M magazine, Rogue magazine and more. There are more interviews being written up now and the band are about to record their first session for Dandelion Radio.
Reviewers have picked up on the pop/new wave roots of the band:
The Metatrons turned out to be a brilliant opener for our weekends festivities, a four-piece female fronted blend of punk, new wave and fuzzy pop who delivered a fun, attitude filled set of infectious three minute belters that helped us all forget our damp feet and wind swept hair with contagious little ditties such as the bubblegum pop of Last To Know. The band’s Stomping rhythms, buzzing guitars, big hooks and hollered vocals went down a treat with the early revellers, setting us up nicely for the rest of the festival. (Rhythm & Booze website)
The band cite their musical influences in two distinct camps: The 80’s noise pop with tunes (Jesus and Mary Chain, Primitives) and the punk/new wave that proceeded it (Blondie, Ramones, The Damned, 999, X-Ray Spex) – all covered with a nice gooey layer of 50’s bubblegum pop with a 60’s Spector-ish glint in it’s eye.
The band:
Polly – The voice and occasional keyboards (likes champagne, ballgowns and kittens)
Simon – The guitars and occasional voice (Likes Guinness, noise and neck ties)
Dez – The bass guitar (Likes brandy, retired Trapeze artist)
Steve – The drums (likes Whiskey, has the most tattoos in the band, is a professional haircutter)
